A graphical representation of a real-world event or process^[1] that needs to be communicated to all parties involved in system development to understand roles, steps, activities and outcomes associated with business events.

The mechanism through which the data are transformed, manipulated and created into output such as a report, a decision etc. A series of activities that need to be carried out to accomplish some sort of organizational goal. A sequence of events or activities that are triggered by something happening and results in something being achieved.

Glossary: Logical Model
A model of the system that graphically illustrates what the system does independent of any technological architecture (hardware, software, and network).
Glossary: Generative Pre-trained Transformer [GPT]
A type of deep learning model that uses a transformer architecture, pretrained on large data sets of unlabelled text, able to generate novel human-like content.

Metadata is essential for understanding information stored in data warehouses. Information about a component or a model and describes the business rules of the data: That is, how the data is going to be used.
