The mechanism through which the data are transformed, manipulated and created into output such as a report, a decision etc. A series of activities that need to be carried out to accomplish some sort of organizational goal. A sequence of events or activities that are triggered by something happening and results in something being achieved.

Glossary: Data Mining
Process that finds relationships and patterns within a large amount of data stored in a database. The process uses tools based on algorithms to sift through mounds of data to find relationships.
Glossary: Conversion
The process of moving data from one system to another. Typically this is performed when implementing a new system and the data needs to be moved and translated from the old system values and format to the new system values and format. A program is written to take the data from the old system format and “convert it” it to the new system format in an automated fashion which saves time and improves efficiency of the data migration tasks.
Glossary: Data Cleansing
Also known as data scrubbing, data cleansing is the process of ensuring that a set of data is correct and accurate. During this process, records are checked for accuracy and consistency, and they are either corrected or deleted as necessary.

The process of transferring data from one source to another.

A decision-making process that involves reaching agreement or consensus among participants in a network or community.
