System Development Lifecycle [SDLC]

A set of steps in the formal design of any information processing system. They include analysis, design, development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation and improvement of the system.

Glossary: Logical Design
A phase in the system development lifecycle (SDLC) in which a new system is designed without regard to the technology in which it will be implemented.
Glossary: Physical Design
A phase in the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in which a new system is designed with particular focus on how the hardware, software and networking activities will be implemented.
